MAURINE LITTLE (1933 ~ 2002)
Today, we gather here to pay our last respects to Maurine Little. If there was ever a person who deserved our respect, it is Maurine. She brought nothing but love and happiness to herself and those around her. Maurine was a very giving person whose selflessness was only exceeded by her kindness.
She was dutiful in her job, which
consisted of watching over the neighborhood children as they made their way to
Cherryvale Elementary School. Maurine
stood on her corner for over 30 years, and saw two generations pass before
her. And she always made sure they got
to and from school safely.
For nearly 50 years, she stood beside her
husband, Harry, as a devoted wife, taking care of her beloved spouse. She enriched his life by maintaining a home
life that was second to none. She
nurtured him, cared for him, and loved him.
It is said that a person is placed on
this Earth for a purpose and there are reasons behind their existence. Maurine’s purpose was obviously to bring joy
and laughter to others. She
accomplished this by making everyone feel loved. She nurtured her husband and children to no end. There are four main reasons behind Maurine
being so wonderful. And those reasons
are her children. Gail, Albert, Harry,
and Elizabeth all carry their mother’s personality within their own. They will extend the legacy that Maurine
started
Let us remember Maurine as she starts her
journey into the next life. Her time
here with us was way too short, and we all feel her presence here today. She would want us to be strong as we say
goodbye to her physical body, but her spirit will be with each and every one of
us forever.
I’d like to close with a poem dedicated
to Maurine Little…
Your time with us was always such a
joy,
The smiles and laughter felt by every
girl and boy.
We will miss you dearly, for you were
so good,
And things just won’t be the same
‘round the neighborhood.
As we bid farewell to your body here
on Earth,
We shall remember in spirit how much
you’re really worth.
You showed all around you how to care
and to love,
And now, you’ll do the same, just
from somewhere up above.
