Table Number 5

As we entered the restaurant,

We noticed how empty it was.

Except for the cook and the waitress,

And a few flickering candles on the tables.

We place our order, and then were asked

“At what table would you like to sit?”

Without hesitation, we both replied,

“We’ll be at Table Number 5”

It was our favorite spot to dine.

Not to far from the counter,

Yet away from noise of the kitchen.

We could look out the front windows

And see the traffic as it passed us by.

All those people, driving somewhere, hurrying about,

Scurrying to reach their destination.

While we relaxed in comfort…

At Table Number 5.

Our order came; the waitress brought it with a smile.

The food, as always, was tasty.

We would reminisce about the times before

When we had been here, talked here

Shared those special moments here…

At Table Number 5.

The conversation was light,

A few words about life, and some casual laughter,

A short stroll down memory lane.

We enjoyed the ambiance of the place,

Surrounded by simple pleasures…

At Table Number 5.
