TRILOGY OF LIFE AND DEATH

Body, soul, and spirit are we who walk upon this earth.

Bound only by the limits of what we do not comprehend.

Once understood, no cage nor chain nor thought keeps us from roaming.

Roaming throughout the realm of discovery, seeking knowledge and love.

We are curious creatures by nature, and nature shall govern our path.

Only discouraged by our prejudice and laziness shall we fail in this quest.

The body is physical…real; comprised of muscle, bone, tissue, and blood.

Blood that is spilled by war and conflict

Bones that are broken as easily as the promises of mankind.

Our body is our chariot, we need to fuel it, clothe it, and nurture it for many decades.

The soul is our ethereal connection with the cosmic universe, our God, as we perceive Him.

Our soul is the hidden room that very few may enter, lest we extend an invitation to them.

We keep our darkest secrets within our soul, our hopes and dreams locked away.

Spirit is the way we live, laugh, love, and present ourselves as we go through life.

Although we attempt to keep our spirits high, occasionally a spirit is broken.

Broken by heartache, meanness, spite, or wrongdoings by hateful individuals.

When death arrives for us, we resist…for we want to live on forever.

We cannot avoid the end, yet we also cannot seem to prepare for it correctly.

Resistance, avoidance, failure to accept…all ways we sidestep the reality of death.

But when we die, not all of us shall pass into the netherworld.  We go in stages.

First, our body is put back into the Mother Earth from whence it came.

Next, our soul is released into the atmosphere to search for another place.

Finally, our spirit is remembered by all around us who loved us, cared for us, and grieves for us.

The chariot rides no more, the hidden room is closed off for good, but the spirit remains…forever.
